Thinking of specializing in pediatric pharmacy, any tips?

Hi PedsRN, that's a wonderful career goal! To become a pediatric pharmacist, you'll need to complete a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree and then pursue a residency or fellowship in pediatrics. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) offers a directory of accredited residency and fellowship programs in pediatrics. Additionally, the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPAG) offers student memberships and resources, including an annual meeting and educational webinars. Good luck on your journey to becoming a pediatric pharmacist!
PedsRN, I'm a pediatric pharmacist and I couldn't be happier with my career choice! In addition to completing a Pharm.D. and residency, I would also recommend getting involved with pediatric organizations and attending conferences. This will help you network with other professionals in the field and stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices. And don't forget to take advantage of any opportunities to work with children, such as volunteering at a children's hospital or participating in a pediatric clerkship during pharmacy school. Best of luck to you!
I'm also interested in pediatric pharmacy, PedsRN! Do you know if there are any specific courses or electives that are recommended during pharmacy school to prepare for this career path? I want to make sure I'm taking full advantage of my education to set myself up for success.
