Struggling with Self Validation and OCD

Hello everyone, I've been dealing with OCD for a few years now and it's been a tough journey. My latest struggle is with self-validation - I can't seem to accept myself or my accomplishments without doubting or second-guessing. It's like my OCD is constantly telling me that I'm not good enough, no matter what I do. Has anyone else experienced this? How do you handle it?

Hi there, I completely understand what you're going through. OCD can often make us doubt ourselves and our accomplishments. One thing that has helped me is to practice self-compassion and mindfulness. Instead of listening to the critical voice in my head, I try to focus on the present moment and treat myself with kindness and understanding. It's not easy, but it can make a big difference over time.

Another helpful strategy is to externalize your OCD. Rather than seeing it as a part of yourself, think of it as a separate entity that's trying to trick you. This can help you separate your own thoughts and feelings from the OCD-related ones, and make it easier to dismiss the intrusive thoughts. You might also consider joining a support group or seeking therapy, which can provide additional tools and resources for managing OCD.

It's important to remember that OCD is a mental health condition, and it's not your fault that you're experiencing these symptoms. Many people with OCD struggle with self-validation, but there are effective strategies for managing it. Try not to get discouraged if progress is slow - managing OCD is a journey, not a destination. Keep up the good work and don't hesitate to reach out for support if you need it.
